Working in phases:

Classes are now working on a two yearly topic cycle. This means that teachers can plan together and therefore broaden the scope of knowledge and creativity. This will enhance the learning experiences across the curriculum. It also guarantees that a diverse range of activities, opportunities, visits and visitors for all children, working at all levels, can be planned and created.

Prior knowledge and what the children want to learn:

Our curriculum is adapted to the needs of individual classes and at the start of a unit of work the children have the chance to discuss what they already know and what they would like to learn about that topic. Building on children’s prior understanding is important so that we can revisit and recap key learning to embed subject specific knowledge and skills.
