SPELLING, PUNCTUATION AND GRAMMAR SUPPORT

The National Curriculum has much more emphasis on pupils having a good understanding of the English language; a high standard of spelling, punctuation and grammar (SPaG) will enable every pupil to use the English language well when writing and understand texts more when reading.

The links below also provide explanations of some of the terminology used during the teaching of SPaG.

The definition of a noun, verb, adjective and adverb - click on the type of word to download a colourful poster explaining these different word types.

Follow this link to find out "13 ways to make grammar fun for children" for some tips and advice on keeping motivation up when learning about SPaG.

For a quick "go-to" website which has lots of free resources, games, tips and advice about SPaG, I recommend this website. It even has some practice KS2 SPaG papers to download if you would like to know the standard required at the end of Year 6 - click here to go there straight away!
