Physical Education at Birchfield Primary School

Intent

At Birchfield Primary School, we recognise that throughout the Primary years Physical Education and activity play a vital part in the development of a balanced and complete child. A structured PE curriculum provides children with experiences and opportunities that will contribute to and support his/her physical and mental well-being, and promote within the child values such as fair play and respect.

At Birchfield, children are encouraged to be physically active as often as possible, and through quality PE lessons, teaching and extra curricular experiences we can promote healthy habits that will contribute to an increase in physical confidence and a healthy lifestyle now and in future years. We hope to provide a programme that caters for individual needs, ensures success and enjoyment and develops skill and a healthy attitude to physical activity.

Get Set for P.E

Ay Birchfield Primary we use the Get Set 4 PE Curriculum which builds over time. Each lesson plan has progressive activities that are designed to inspire and engage pupils, allowing them to explore and develop skills before applying them. The lessons have key success criteria which provides clear information to help the pupils develop their skill level and teaching points appear throughout to help teachers with their subject knowledge and differentiation tasks provide activities with simple changes to appropriately challenge all of your pupils.
